This has long been the way I think of Tim and his heart, and I was reminded of it at his last appointment on Friday. Lest anyone worry, all is fine. Frankly, to my non-medical eye his behavior, stamina, etc. is back to what it was pre-operatively. It was a very LONG day with many tests (none that hurt) and visits from many different doctors. Tim held up well until the very end, but he was exhausted and done with all the examining. Here’s the lowdown.
He’s had no episodes of arrhythmia since his last hospital stay. This is a good thing. If he keeps it up, he can come off of the Coumadin in a couple more months. In the meantime he will still have to have regular blood draws. Hopefully I’ll be able to find a good phlebotomist who doesn’t mind that Tim screams, loudly. The echo they did was about the same as the last one. Apparently the function is better, but the ventricle is larger…it’s all relative. The doctors agreed with me that we can compare Tim only to himself, and he is gaining weight, eating well, sleeping well, playing, and ready for school to start next week!
As always, thank you for thinking of us. Tim turns 4 next week and we will all be celebrating!
