It has been a long, long day for everyone, probably most of all Tim.
I'm going to keep this update short, as everyone here needs to get some sleep. It was a long day, but the outcome is good. We spent most of the day waiting, as we arrived at the hospital at 11 this morning, and Tim was wheeled into surgery around 3:00. The fasting was a definite challenge, but miraculously, Tim remained relatively pleasant despite 18 hours with no food or water. The surgery itself was uneventful. Tim did fine, the lead was replace, and he was extubated in the OR. When Lou, Rosie and I left, he was awake (mostly) and crabby - good signs as far as I'm concerned.
As of tonight, the plan is to keep him comfortable and healing. We're keeping our fingers crossed, but so far, so good.
